If your hardware fits these requirements, go to the download page and get free trial version of Easy Sync. Then, run the downloaded file and follow the instructions of the wizard. Then, launch Easy Sync using a shortcut on your desktop.

    Step 2. Connecting your device

Connect your Pocket PC or Smartphone to your computer and. Use any type of connection you like: cradle, IrDA, Bluetooth. Check if the connection status in Easy Sync is "connected". If it is not, make sure that Microsoft ActiveSync (aka "Windows Mobile Device Center" in Vista) states "connected".

    Step 3. Creating tasks

Now you are to create tasks to sync your files and folders (click here for examples). Each task will sync, copy or move files between a folder or storage card on your mobile device and a folder on your computer or network. So, one pair of linked folders per task.

You link two folders, define the action that will be applied to files listed under them (see options) and select launch conditions (see options). You can process all subfolders as well and create a mask to filter files. For additional instructions on creating sync tasks click here...

That's it! When you finished creating a list of tasks for Easy Sync, your files and folders would be processed according to the settings you've chosen for each pair of folders.

Easy Sync is designed to give you such opportunity. Synchronize, copy, move and backup unlimited number of folders from any locations, including storage cards, absolutely automatically

Easy Sync doesn't replace ActiveSync (WMDC). Moreover, our solution is based on Microsoft software and youll need ActiveSync or WMDC to make Easy Sync work. to the FAQ list

How to sync only specific files (not all in the folder)?

It is as simple as setting a mask in the dialog of Adding New pair of folders. Just select "Process files matching this mask" and use the text field below to enter, e.g. "*.mp3" to process only your MP3 tracks, or "*.txt" to sync only text files.

    to the FAQ list

How to make a full backup of my mobile device

Under a "backup" of your device we mean a copy of all (excluding system and locked) files and folders stored in main memory and on internal and external memory cards. So, please note, that this backup doesn't include any other data stored on your device, like Contacts, Tasks, Settings, etc.

If later you'd like to restore that backup, read further instruction here.

    to the FAQ list

    How to Restore a Backup?

First of all we would like to admit, that for now Easy Sync isn't a full-functioning backup tool. We mean "backup" like a reserve copy of files, which can be stored somewhere on you computer, but not actually is able to be re-stored. So, nevertheless, after creating a full backup you'll have a copy of your device's file system in your computer's folders. Then, if you need to return to the state of files and folders that was backed up - create a new task. Locate the same folders as you've done in the backup task, but change the action to "Copy to mobile device". Run the task.
Attention: Please, be careful doing this operation, cause it will overwrite any files found on your device in case they have equal names with those from the folder with backup.

    to the FAQ list

How to Sync Memory Card of Mobile Device?

With Easy Sync you are able to sync either full contents of your storage card to a desktop folder or just several folders from it. There is nothing easier. Just create a new pair of synchronized folders in Easy Sync and link the root folder of your device's storage card with a folder on your computer. That's it. After you run synchronization, the full-copy of your card's contents will be in the folder youve selected on your computer.

    to the FAQ list

How to Sync Several Mobile Devices?

It is as simple as just connect each mobile device and create a list of synchronization tasks. Each time you connect one of your devices Easy Sync will automatically recognize it and load its profile with appropriate task list. If you wish to know which profile were already created with Easy Sync - go to File - Device Manager menu.
Please note: the identification of each device is based on it's Name, that is available in Windows Mobile Start - Settings - System - About. If you change this Name - please open Device manager in Easy Sync and rename the profile too.

    to the FAQ list

Which options for launching tasks are available?

For each task you can select one of the following launch conditions:

    1. Manual executed only when you click toolbar or menu run buttons.
    2. On-connect executed each time you connect your mobile device to computer.
    3. Online immediately executed each time changes within linked folders are made

Moreover, you can additionally schedule the launch of your task.

    to the FAQ list

How to Schedule Launching of a Task?

In the Task Wizard dialog on Step 3 tab you need to enable the Run on schedule option. Click Options... to configure a schedule for your task. You are able to choose between launching every day, week or months with lots of options inside (e.g. each 2nd day, each Monday and Tuesday, each 3rd Sunday at 9pm, etc...). You can also plan running of any task for the future date and time.

    to the FAQ list

What if at the time when one of scheduled tasks is to be launched there is no connected mobile device?

In this case, this task will be executed at the first time you connect your mobile device to your computer within current day. If no connection was established at this day, the launch is discarded. For example, you have a task scheduled on 2 pm on Tuesday. It will be launched, if you connect your mobile device at any moment between 2pm and 11:59pm on Tuesday. If you will establish a connection later the task won't be launched.

    to the FAQ list

Why tasks are launched with delay after device is connected?

Indeed, when you connect your mobile device to computer, launching of your tasks (which has on-connect or online launch condition) is delayed for several seconds to prevent conflicts with ActiveSync (Vista Mobile Device Center). We give some time to ActiveSync so it could process its own sync tasks for your mobile notes, email, task list etc.

    to the FAQ list

How to know which files were synchronized if the process was aborted

When you abort sync process Easy Sync will show a message with folder and file name that was not process. That means, that all folders which are mentioned earlier in synchronized folders list in main dialog - were process, those, which are below the line with mentioned folder - were not processed.

    to the FAQ list

    Known Issues and Troubleshooting

We made several tests under 64-bit Vista and found out that Easy Sync is compatible. But we have also found that if you're using mobile device running Windows Mobile 6, you may have problems with the connection. This message is shown when Easy Sync can not read license information that you've someday entered. This may happen for a variety of reasons, but solution is simple. Just find your 5-digit registration code and enter it again to confirm the license validity. If you need any assistance in that situation, please contact us.

When I try to browse my device, Easy Sync hangs on the "Loading folders" message

Users of several models of iPAQ (hx2190,  hx2410, hx2790) reported such issue. We can't locate the problem for now, cause it is somewhere outside Easy Sync. Maybe something breaks in the ActiveSync's (Vista Windows Mobile Device Center) connection or in some other system places. We are sorry for such inconvenience and will continue searching for the solution. Your help is appreciated!

I get "Can't read device name" message

Sometimes the connection between your mobile device and computer becomes unstable. It usually happens when you haven't rebooted your pc for a long time. So, you can get the message "Can't read device name". It means Easy Sync can't get the name of your mobile device to load the appropriate task list. Please, check your connection status in Microsoft ActiveSync dialog (Vista Windows Mobile Device Center).

The only way we found for now to solve the problem: restart Easy Sync. We are sorry for inconveniences.

I've changed a file on PC, but it doesn't seem to be synced to mobile device

There is a case when such behavior is possible. The most common example is: you've set up a task to continuously sync a folder with docs. But after you make changes to e.g. Excel or Word files, the new versions of docs are not synced to your mobile device. The reason is in access permissions to files you're working with. Such applications as Microsoft Office usually lock files they're working with. Easy Sync can't access them, while they're opened. So the solution in such situations is simple - just close the document you worked with so it could be synced to your device.

May be there are other cases when file is locked by another application and Easy Sync can't process it. You can contact us and to find out if there is s solution.

    to the issues list

I've changed file attributes, but a task created to continuously monitor changes missed that

Yes, right. There is a little gap in tasks continuously monitoring changes made to files. Changes made to attributes are not reflected in real time. If you find this gap important - please contact us so we could knew there is a man who needs this gap to be filled.

    to the issues list

Changes made to file on mobile device are not reflected in real time

If you've created a task to continuously monitor changes made to files and after you update files on your mobile device - nothing happens with linked files on computer - know that we haven't yet implemented monitoring in real time on the side of mobile device.

But there is a solution if you need to continuously reflect changes made to files on your mobile device to your computer. Just create a task and enable schedule for it. Set up it to run each 5 minutes and it will do the job you need.

    to the issues list

If I run a task from Preview dialog, comparison of files starts again.

That true. If you run a preview for a task and then click Process now, files and folders will be compared again before processing. We can see a disadbantage in such behavior, tasks processing folders with many files can take quite a long time for comparing.

We are thinking of improving the algorithm, cause such changes can bring even more functionality to the preview dialog. Let us know if you have you own ideas about it (click here).

    to the issues list

The specified path, file name, or both are too long

If you have FAT or FAT32 file system you can face with such issue. It is about a length of a path to a folder you wish to process with an Easy Sync task.

We are sorry, but that is a specific of FAT file system. We encourage you to use NTFS which is more flexible and modern.
